A book of Photographic and Computer Evolved Art
CEA
definition: Art which
evolves virtually within
a computer.
CEA is representative of
all art forms that
evolve within the
virtual world of a
computer be they scans
of paintings, drawing,
photographs or even
sculpture. Once altered
digitally or combined
with any digital
elements the art enters
the realm of Computer
Evolved Art.
Just as all life evolves
so does all art. Art has
existed in many forms
and has been created via
a number of techniques.
The painter uses a
brush, the sculptor a
chisel and hammer, the
writer once used a pen,
then moved to the
typewriter and now the
keyboard. Computer
Evolved Art is also an
innovation of the
digital age representing
an evolution of
creativity that has
given birth to a unique
and varied art form.
My personal journey into
Computer Evolved Art was
born from the need to
ignore preconceived
concepts of photography
and art and in a sense
become NEW.
Society in a way defines
what is and is not art.
This definition is based
and derived by when and
if society becomes
accustomed to a
particular art form or
style. Just as both
Impressionism and Cubism
first encountered
general opposition, or
lack of understanding
from the art world, so
does CEA.
Digital Art or the more
specific, Computer
Evolved Art, once
thought of as a new
fangled passing trend
is now becoming fully
accepted as an art
medium. It will
ultimately take its
place in history as a
fine art form
originating in the late
20th century. |
